ghost island

in 1890, mitsubishi industrial group bought this island and left the coal to break down way below sea level. in 1974, the production ended, pivoting on oil to japan, and hashima became a ghost island. just reopened to visitors in the spring of 2009, hashima was once the most densely populated places on earth, with a population about 6 times the current population density of tokyo.
