the first two are from a series called actors. these following images come from a series called, karzceby, which refers to the people who live in east poland who speak a dialect of polish and belorussian. “with their bare hands, the karzceby cleared forests to grow crops. the word karzceb was also used to describe what remains after a tree is cut down- a trunk with roots that stay stuck in the ground.” this reflected the character of the karzceby and their nature to stick to their soil, even through times when authorities thought otherwise. they would take death over giving up their land, after death, being buried by their farmland and becoming part of the soil their descendants would someday cultivate.
